Unfortunately I only ever come to this sacred place for funerals. Today’s was for a very special, Scott Stedman, who will be missed. A wonderful, quiet place where you can feel spirituality enlightened whether you’re religious or not. My dad’s stone masonry company helped build this church and chapel years ago and this was one of the first big stone jobs I was a part of. I am always humbled, amazed, and very proud by his work here. It’s not often that a man leaves an imprint like this on a community and a sanctuary for so many to meditate and feel close to god in. Retaining wall repaired and stone veneer added. This wall was in decay from years of water penetration. We removed the bad blocks, relaid them, filled the webs with concrete and poured a new cap. Multi year project coming to fruition. We started out with the back planters and some erosion control using massive stones as steps and then the garden walls out of rip rap. Next was garden walls in the front of the house, with the steps and loose based sidewalk. Now we are wrapping this up with the back patio, matching front patio and dry stack walls in the front. The client is respectful and amazing and gives us room to create our Masonry art and we appreciate that very much. The front steps are currently different tread heights and widths, and we are able to take this opportunity to get all of the tread heights and widths the same from the concrete driveway all the way up to the front step. This is technical stonework and we are very good at what we are doing. Photo dump from a recently completed project. We tore the old retaining wall out, pushed the wall footprint away from the house and rebuilt it using Carderock stone and Pennsylvania flagstone. Part two was to build a firepit using the same Carderock stone and random Pennsylvania flagstone as the cap and patios/walkways. We installed sod and some plants to finish it off. This was a long and difficult project but it’s done and looks amazing. The clients are very happy and we can breathe a deep sigh of relief. We can do some pretty amazing masonry work including fireplaces, ponds, stone walls and patios, pool coping and decks and we are now offering some concrete work. Drain tile system installation. A big, tough job but now the basement build can go ahead because we are secure in the knowledge it will not and can not flood from outside water sources. The drip hoses are drilled into the bottom row of blocks on the interior side only so if water penetrates from the outside it will drain into the system. This is how you prevent a basement from flooding. We do that. I tell them all the time “my life is brand new since I bought this machine“ This little guy is the handiest thing in the world.
